THE LUME will be open daily from 10 am until late. Sessions are scheduled to provide everyone with a safe, contactless experience to explore a vibrant symphony of light, colour, sound, aroma and taste.


THE LUME is conveniently located at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Wharf on the banks of the Yarra River. The main entrance is located at 1 Convention Centre Place, adjacent to the Novotel hotel and DFO with Taxi and Ride Share drop off ranks located outside our front entrance.

Trams 12, 96 and 109 run every 6-12 minutes and stop outside MCEC on Clarendon Street. Trams 70, 35 and 75 run along Flinders Street stopping on the north side of the Yarra River near the pedestrian bridge to MCEC.

Southern Cross Station on Spencer Street is just a short stroll from the venue, with trains running every 15-20 minutes. Visit the MCEC website to find your best route to THE LUME.

Various bike parking facilities are available at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. There are bike hoops located along Convention Centre Place outside Wilson Parking South Wharf and another on Orrs Walk, opposite Polly Woodside.


The most convenient parking for THE LUME Melbourne is the South Wharf Retail Carpark or the Melbourne Exhibition Centre Car Park. A flat rate of $12 applies for all visitors to THE LUME.

Central to THE LUME Melbourne’s uniquely immersive experience is the evocatively themed Café Terrace 1888 inside the main gallery space.

Paying homage to Van Gogh’s Dutch heritage as well as the inspiration he found in Paris and regional France, the menu reflects classic French café culture with a nod to Dutch cuisine. Small bites, light meals, share plates, children’s dishes, and indulgent desserts will feature, alongside a comprehensive selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Bookings are not required and there is no time limit on your stay inside the gallery.
