We are perfectly located at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, nestled in the heart of Melbourne along the bustling South Wharf precinct (enter via South Wharf main entry). Below are some of our recommendations to make the most of your day.


In preparation for your visit, here are some quick links and information to assist you:

  • Download your ticket beforehand and arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your session.

  • A cloakroom is available at the MCEC Customer Service Desk next to Goldfields Cafe.

THE LUME Melbourne is a Cash-Free venue, this also minimises the potential risk of transmission of COVID-19.

To maintain social distancing try to keep 1.5m apart from other visitors outside your party at all times.


THE LUME is conveniently located at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Wharf on the banks of the Yarra River. The main entrance is located at 5 Convention Centre Place, adjacent to the Novotel hotel and DFO – enter via South Wharf main entry. Taxi and Ride Share drop off ranks are located outside our front entrance.

Trams 12, 96 and 109 run every 6-12 minutes and stop outside MCEC on Clarendon Street. Trams 70, 35 and 75 run along Flinders Street stopping on the north side of the Yarra River near the pedestrian bridge to MCEC.

Southern Cross Station on Spencer Street is just a short stroll from the venue, with trains running every 15-20 minutes. Visit the MCEC website to find your best route to THE LUME.

Various bike parking facilities are available at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. There are bike hoops located along Convention Centre Place outside Wilson Parking South Wharf and another on Orrs Walk, opposite Polly Woodside.


The most convenient parking for THE LUME Melbourne is the South Wharf Retail Carpark or the Melbourne Exhibition Centre Car Park. A flat rate of $12 applies for all visitors to THE LUME.

If you have pre-purchased discount parking when booking your session, your parking voucher will appear as a separate ticket on your Ticketmaster Account. Please have your parking ticket barcode ready to scan on your device at the Carpark Entry and Exit.

Discount validation tickets are available from any THE LUME Melbourne team or from the Box Office to discount your parking on the day.

There are also secure car parks located in and around South Wharf including Siddeley Street Carpark, Freeway Carpark and Montague Street Carpark.


THE LUME is committed to being accessible to all at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. There are accessible toilets, ramps, and lifts throughout the venue, including lift access from the car parks. For more information click here.

The most convenient entrances for visitors to THE LUME Melbourne are located on Convention Centre Place, next to the Novotel Hotel across the road from DFO South Wharf. Once inside the building, you will find The LUME located next to Door 17.

Alternatively, if using the entrance via Clarendon Street, please allow extra time to arrive at THE LUME Melbourne (Approx. 5 mins)


Central to THE LUME Melbourne’s uniquely immersive experience is the evocatively themed Café Terrace 1888 inside the main gallery space.

Paying homage to Van Gogh’s Dutch heritage as well as the inspiration he found in Paris and regional France, the menu reflects classic French café culture with a nod to Dutch cuisine. Small bites, light meals, share plates, children’s dishes, and indulgent desserts will feature, alongside a comprehensive selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

The hotel is located at the top end of town, locally known as the ‘Paris end’ of Collins St where you can also find high end and luxury boutiques. From here you can access Melbourne’s vast tram network, if you are only travelling within the Central Business District (CBD), Docklands or to THE LUME Melbourne, no ticket is required, simply hop on and hop off.
